What Is Industrial Plantation?

Industrial plantations are made for the mercantile production of paper-based products. This method is used to satisfy the rising need for wood-based raw materials in the industry.

A lot of people think that paper and paper-based products are made by destroying forests. But most of the paper manufacturers now, get their raw materials from industrial forests. The trees in those forests are not planted for the environment and clean air but are planted as an investment. Any manufacturer, from wood furniture makers to tissue paper producers, that uses wood to produce their goods can take advantage of industrial forests.

Let’s take tissue papers in hand. Usually, tissue papers are made of old paper by using recycling methods but some of them are a combination of hardwood and softwood trees. Southern pines and Douglas firs are examples of softwood trees. They have long fibres that wrap around each other which give paper strength. And hardwood trees like gum, maple and oak have shorter fibres that make paper softer. Tissues are generally included %70 hardwood and %30 softwood.

Considering the fact that there are various types of tissue papers and hundreds of millions of people using them daily, this creates a huge demand for tissue paper raw material to keep the circulation going. If we add all the paper types that we use to write, print, paint, decorate, the issue gets even more serious. These facts alone show how important it is to invest in industrial forests.
