When Did We Start Using Diapers?
The first diapers to be used was cloth ones. Modern diapers, as we know them today, started to take shape in the 19th century. Those diapers were made with cotton material, held in place with a fastening and then a safety pin.
Disposable diapers, which are widely used today made their debut in the 20th century. Robinsons of Chesterfield listed disposable diapers as “Destroyable Babies Napkins” in their catalogue for the wholesale market at early in the century. Then in 1944, Hugo Drangel of the Swedish paper company Pualiström came up with a conceptual design that would entail the placing of sheets of tissue paper inside the cloth diaper.
As baby diapers were evolved with each interference, the last shape was given around the 1960s. Procter & Gamble invented and trademarked “Pampers” after managing a project during which they investigated disposable baby diapers.
Disposable Baby Diapers are More Practical
Parents have their preferences in diapers. While some prefer cloth diapers, there is a major group of consumers that prefer disposable baby diapers better. When the two types of diapers are compared, it is seen that disposable diapers are better a better option to be practical in use.
Experts and doctors say that disposable diapers are better at preventing the most common type of rash which is caused by moisture from urine and feces remaining trapped against the skin. Superabsorbent polymers ( SAP ) added in the structure of disposable diapers can take in and retain many times their weight in liquid. Breathable structure and different sizing options also help with comfort.
When we take into consideration all the aspects, disposable diapers are better. They keep babies drier and away from the rash. More to that, it is practical for parents as dirty diapers go straight into the trash can.
